MISS WASHINGTON USA 2014
Participating in the Miss Washington USA® Pageant was a teaching moment for me. Abuse and homelessness is the platform I represented as it touches so many people including my family. Being a role model is important to me as I know I cannot change the world on my own; I would like to change it one action at a time and keep it top of mind. No one is perfect and everyone deserves a chance.
I enjoy being a spokeswomen and representing those who do not have a voice.
Standing up on the stage was invigorating as the judges presented each question. As I represented Miss NW Seattle, who knew that using critical thinking would be fun! Collecting 100% sponsorship's to assist me in representing my causes is a key component of the Miss Washington pageant, as it teaches life skills and helped me build the confidence and business management skills that is needed to part of the business sector.
Being raised by a single mother who worked hard in life to provide for our family and others has shaped my mind set. Our door was always open to others in need. To this day, I will never forget the mornings where I would count the amount of shoes at the front door in order to have the right count to help prepare breakfast! She taught me how important it is to be self-sufficient in life and never give up.
